Last Friday, John Turscak, a 52-year-old federal inmate, was charged with attempted murder after stabbing Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of the murder of George Floyd, 22 times. The incident took place in the law library of the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson, Arizona.
According to federal prosecutors, Turscak used a makeshift knife in the attack. The quick response of correctional officers prevented a fatal outcome, and Turscak said that he would have killed Chauvin if it had not been for the authorities’ intervention.
